Michael Canares is managing consultant at Step Up Consulting. He currently leads several data for development projects globally, namely, an open contracting and inclusion research in Asia and Africa funded by Hivos, a data-based road asset management capacity building for UNDP in the Philippines, a labour market data experiment in Indonesia for GIZ, and results-measurement project for road governance in Vanuatu for the Australian DFAT. He also supports the OGP in Asia Pacific in finding better models for OGP co-creation processes in preparing country NAPs.
For the last five years, and only until recently, he was chief of design and implementation at the Open Data Lab in Jakarta of the World Wide Web Foundation, and also the Senior Manager for Research, conducting research in Asia, Africa, and Latin America on topics at the intersection of data, governance, and technology.
Jean Celeste S. Paredes is a research associate of Step Up Consulting Services and works for various development research and initiatives in the last 10 years. She has worked with a highly collaborative and supportive team in various development agenda and capacity development initiatives for international organizations, national and local government units, and people’s organizations.
She is a graduate of the Development Academy of the Philippines with a degree in Master in Public Management major in Rural Development.
